  Long story short, I had it towed to another mechanic who took no time at all to tell me my car was cooked - catastrophic engine failure and shouldn't have been driven in that condition. He also found that the oil was either very poor quality or wasn't even topped up at servicing as it was sludgy - despite me having the car serviced regularly.

  I went in, paid the $300+ for repairs, then put my kids inside the car and started it up. The sound was atrocious. I was reassured it would get better as I drove. I started driving and the car was sluggish, noisy and felt like it would stall at any moment. The mechanic THEN told me he's NOT SURE if the engine is damaged or not :-/

  Last time I was there, I had to have my car towed as the drive belt broke. They replaced the belt and pulleys and rang to say my car was ready to pick up...but was making a "bit" of noise. When asked if it was a 'bad' sound, they said it was not.

  I got Autoboss in Moe to replace the front end ball joints on my car because I knew they were worn. While he was doing them he also did a general check and found my front brakes needed replacing and the sway bar bushes. He immediately rang me to let me know. I got him to do the bushes and said I would do the brakes myself. I found the service to be excellent at a good price. Thanks Col. I will definitely use them again next time.

  Was using this mechanic regularly for servicing and repairs. Had a couple of instances where I wasn't overly happy - such as asking them to check the brakes as the warning light had appeared on the dash. They told me the brakes were fine and just needed brake fluid. 2 months later, it was booked in for a service, brake warning light was on the dash again. Asked them to check them again and they were worn metal to metal all of a sudden.
